William was born in 1813 in Kirtling, Cambridgeshire, , England.  William's father was Thomas Crick and his mother is Sarah Trundey.  His paternal grandfather was John Crick and his paternal grandmother is Mary. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Matthew, Joseph, Thomas, john, Richard, Rhoda, sally ann, Ellen, catherine and Elizabeth.  He is the second oldest of the eleven children. He has a half-sister named Ann.
