john was born in 1837 in Kirtling, Cambridgeshire, , England.  John's father was Thomas Crick and his mother is Sarah Trundey.  His paternal grandfather was John Crick and his paternal grandmother is Mary. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Matthew, William, Joseph, Thomas, Richard, Rhoda, sally ann, Ellen, catherine and Elizabeth.  He is the third youngest of the eleven children. He has a half-sister named Ann.
