Thomas was born on February 16th, 1794 in Kirtling, Cambridgeshire, , England.1   Thomas' father was John Crick and his mother is Mary.  His paternal grandfather is Richard Crick and his paternal grandmother was Elizabeth Campion. He had four brothers and three sisters, named John, William, Jeffery, Robert, Sarah, mary and Alice.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children. He had six half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Thomas, Thomas, Frederick, John, Basil, William, Florence, Sarah, Larahm, Lily and Mary.  He died at the age of 87 in December 1881 in Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, United Kingdom.
