Frederick was born in 1875 in West Wickham, Cambridgeshire, , England.  Frederick's father was John Crick and his mother is Mary Turner.  His paternal grandfather is Richard Crick and his paternal grandmother was Elizabeth Campion. He has five brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, Thomas, John, Basil, William, Florence, Sarah, Larahm, Lily and Mary.  He is the third oldest of the eleven children. He had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named John, William, Jeffery, Thomas, Robert, Sarah, mary and Alice.
