Florence was born in 1877 in West Wickham, Cambridgeshire, , England.  Florence's father was John Crick and her mother is Mary Turner.  Her paternal grandfather is Richard Crick and her paternal grandmother was Elizabeth Campion. She has six brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, Thomas, Frederick, John, Basil, William, Sarah, Larahm, Lily and Mary.  She is the fourth oldest of the eleven children. She had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named John, William, Jeffery, Thomas, Robert, Sarah, mary and Alice.
