Thomas Parsons was born in 1835 in Timsbury, Somerset, England.  Thomas Parsons' father was William Whiting and his mother was Mary Parsons.  His maternal grandparents were Thomas Parsons and Betty Harris. He had a brother and three sisters, named Thomas Parsons, Mary, Elizabeth and Ann Parrsons.  He was the second youngest of the five children.
