Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Parsons and Sarah Unknown; her maternal grandparents were George Harris and Ann Unknown. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named George, George, William, John, John, Henry, Thomas, Elizabeth and Mary. She was the fourth youngest of the ten children. She had a half-brother named Thomas.-
