Lt.-Gen. Hon. Sir James Lindsay 
James was born on August 25th, 1815. James' father was James Lindsay (24th Earl of Crawford) and his mother was Hon. Maria Margaret Francis Pennington. His paternal grandparents were General Alexander Lindsay (6th Earl of Balcarres) and Elizabeth Dalrymple (Countess of Balcarres ). He had three brothers named Alexander William Crawford, Charles Hugh and Colin . He was the second oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 58 on August 13th, 1874.-
