William Elder 
William was born on April 2nd, 1832. William's father was John Elder and his mother was Mary Nairne Aitchison. His paternal grandparents were John (or William) and Elizabeth Cleghorn; his maternal grandparents were William Aitchison and Elizabeth Nairne. He had two brothers and three sisters, named John, Nairne Guthrie, Elizabeth Aitchison, Mary and Margaret.-
