Sarah Harper

Sarah was born in 1902 in Wheatley Hill, Co Durham.¹ Sarah's father was Ezekiel Harper and her mother was Mary Knowles. Her paternal grandparents were James Henry Harper and Elizabeth Haywood; her maternal grandparents were Robert Knowles and Jane Pickering. She had five brothers and eight sisters, named James, Robert, William, John, Joseph, Elizabeth, Barbara, Mary, Margaret, Alice, Emma, Annie and Alice. She was the fourth youngest of the fourteen children.
