Jane was born in 1833 in Atherstone, Warwickshire and her baptism took place there on March 17th, 1833.¹ Jane's father was Elijah HALL and her mother was Sarah SILVESTER. Her paternal grandparents were John HALL and Sarah PLANT; her maternal grandparents were William SILVESTER and Mary PARKER. She had four brothers and four sisters, named George, Thomas, Elijah, Amos, Mary, Susannah, Fanny and Louisa. She was the third oldest of the nine children.
