Eleanor was born in 1327.  Eleanor's father was Robert de Holland and her mother was Maud De La Zouche.  Her paternal grandparents were Sir Robert de Holland and Elizabeth de Samlesbury. She had five brothers and seven sisters, named Robert, Thomas, Otho, John, Alan, Joane, Margery, Maud, Elizabeth, Margaret, Jane and Elizabeth.  She was the twelfth oldest of the thirteen children.  She died at the age of 14 in 1341.
