Marie was born on May 14th, 1809.  Marie's father was Pierre Mire and her mother was Henriette Bernard.  Her paternal grandparents were Joachim  (Bénoni) dit Bénoni Lemire and Madeleine Melançon; her maternal grandparents were Jean Bernard and Madgeleine Dugas. She had four brothers and seven sisters, named Benjamin, Jean, Everiste, Jean, Marie, Marie, Marie, Marie, Marie, Marie and Marie.  She was the seventh oldest of the twelve children.
