Marie was born on October 26th, 1802.  Marie's father was Pierre Mire and her mother was Henriette Bernard.  Her paternal grandparents were Joachim  (Bénoni) dit Bénoni Lemire and Madeleine Melançon; her maternal grandparents were Jean Bernard and Madgeleine Dugas. She had four brothers and seven sisters, named Benjamin, Jean, Everiste, Jean, Marie, Marie, Marie, Marie, Marie, Marie and Marie.  She was the fourth oldest of the twelve children.
