Mary was born in 1770 in Pee Dee River, Craven County, South Carolina.

- MARY4 COLE (JAMES JR3, JAMES SR2, STEPHEN SR1) was born 1770 in Pee Dee River, Craven County, South Carolina, and died March 18, 1815 in Stampley Station, Jefferson County, Mississippi. She married JACOB STAMPLEY Abt. 1787 in Natchez District, Mississippi, son of HENRY STAMPLEY and MARGARET STAMPLEY. He died 1829.
  
  Notes for JACOB STAMPLEY:
  Jacob was one of the wealthiest planters in Jefferson County, Mississippi, with large plantations and many slaves. Their base for shipping cotton was at a station called Stampley.

Mary's father was James Cole Jr and her mother was Mary Rentfroe. Her paternal grandfather was James Cole Sr and her paternal grandmother is J. (Cole); her maternal grandparents were James Rentfroe and Ester Van Bibber. She had six brothers and two sisters, named John, Stephen, James, Solomon, Mark, William, Sarah and Susanna. She was the sixth oldest of the nine children. She died at the age of 45 on March 18th, 1815 in Stampley Station, Jefferson County, Mississippi.
