Marguerite was born on June 20th, 1825.  Marguerite's father was Edward Bourgeois and her mother was Madgeleine Mire.  Her paternal grandparents were Jean Bourgeois and Ludivine Granger; her maternal grandparents were Joachim  (Bénoni) dit Bénoni Lemire and Madeleine Melançon. She had four brothers and seven sisters, named Edouard, Jean, Jean, ?, Eudalie, Marie, Marie, Marie, Marie, Magdelaine and Emilie.  She was the tenth oldest of the twelve children.
