John was born on January 25th, 1902 in Paterson, New Jersey.  John's father was John Henry Cherry and his mother was Amelia (Emily)(Amilia)(Amalie) (Mila) Wilhemina Grossbeck (Grosbeck).  His paternal grandparents were George Cherry and Johanna Mary Rogers (Bloom); his maternal grandparents were Franz A Grosspietsch (Grossbeck) and Amelia Pauline  Wiesner. He had five sisters named Lillian, Hasel, Florence, Beatrice (Beatricke) and Evelyn (Emilia).  He was the third youngest of the six children.  He died at the age of 92 on January 17th, 1995.1

‌John and Mary were married.  They had two sons and a daughter, named John, David and Beatrice.
