James Hardie 
James was born on January 26th, 1813 in Rescobie, Angus, Scotland. James' father was James Hardie and his mother was Christian Thomson. His maternal grandparents were James Thomson and Kathryn Gibson. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Patrick, William, Andrew, John, Isabella, Margaret , Helen and Jean. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 70 on May 19th, 1883 in St Vigeans Poorhouse, Angus, Scotland.1 General Notes
