George Hardie 
George was born in 1840 in Kirriemuir, Angus, Scotland. George's father was William Hardie and his mother was Elizabeth Allardice. His paternal grandparents were James Hardie and Christian Thomson; his maternal grandparents were Alexander Allardice and Jean Whanell. He had five brothers and three sisters, named William, Evan, Alexander , Leonard, Jonathon, Betsy, Agnes and Eliza. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.-
