Isabel was born on February 25th, 1840 in Monikie, Scotland and her baptism took place there on March 2nd, 1840.1 Isabel's father was Thomas Brown and her mother was Ann Davidson. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Brown and Isobel Watt; her maternal grandparents were Andrew Davidson and Christian Petrie. She had four brothers and two sisters, named David, John, Andrew, Charles, Barbara and Ann.-
