Andrew was born on April 17th, 1849 in Carmyllie, Angus, Scotland.1 Andrew's father was Thomas Brown and his mother was Ann Davidson. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Brown and Isobel Watt; his maternal grandparents were Andrew Davidson and Christian Petrie. He had three brothers and three sisters, named David, John, Charles, Isabel, Barbara and Ann. Andrew and Charles were twins.-
