Ann was born on July 23rd, 1812 in Murroes, Angus, Scotland.  Ann's father was Andrew Davidson and her mother was Christian Petrie.  Her maternal grandparents were Henry Petrie and Margaret Elder. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Henry, Alexander, Andrew, John, David, Thomas, Isobel, Margaret, Christina and Agnes.  She died at the age of 86 on February 4th, 1899 in 10 Smithy Croft, Arbroath, Angus, Scotland.1
