Mary Demaris Matilda was born on September 14th, 1856 in Rockingham Co, NC. Mary Demaris Matilda's father was John C. Knight and her mother was Elizabeth Roberts. Her maternal grandparents were Martin Roberts and Elizabeth Gilliland. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Martin Roberts, Thomas Benton, Emory Calvin, Samuel Garrett, Elizabeth Janet, Dora and Susanna. She was the fourth youngest of the eight children. She died at the age of 67 on December 12th, 1923 in Madison, Rockingham Co, NC. She was buried on December 13th, 1923 in Sardis Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Madison, Rockingham Co, NC.General Notes
