James Kerr 
James was born in 1764 in Augusta County, Virginia.1 James' father was James Kerr and his mother was Jane Robertson. His paternal grandparents were James Kerr and Martha Ball; his maternal grandparents were James Robertson and Rebecca Royston. He had four brothers and three sisters, named John, Alexander, Nathaniel, Nathaniel, Betsy, Peggy and Jane. He was the oldest of the eight children.-
