Mary Margaret was born on March 25th, 1845 in Monroe Co. MO.1 Mary Margaret's father was John D. Goodnight and her mother was Frances Pond Childress. Her paternal grandparents were Edward Goodnight and Sarah "Sally" Dye. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Joshua C., Edward, Presley Harrison, James Thomas, William Henry, Ruth J., Dulcena Pendleton, Sarah Ann and Lucinda.
