Lillian Matherson was born in April 1894 in Rockingham Co, NC. Lillian Matherson's father was Jim and her mother was Katherine Sewell Trent. Her maternal grandparents were James Garrett Trent and Matilda Frances Roberts. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Roy Herbert, Walter Herman, Bessie Alma, Kate Earlene, Anna Henry, Lucy Ola and Mrytle Goode.
