Bertha Rickert 
Bertha was born on September 19th, 1873 in Bissel, Colfax County, Nebraska.1 Bertha's father was John Ludvig (Rickers) Rickert and her mother was Catherine Elizabeth Heibel. Her paternal grandparents were John Johann Rickers and Anna Katherine Borchers; her maternal grandparents were Valentine (Heupbel) Heibel and Angelika "Anna" "Gela" Reitz. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Carl Oscar, John Ludvig Valentine, Clara, Martha Catherine, Anna Louise, Maria "Mary" Catherine and Kate. She was the oldest of the eight children. She died due to Creeping paralysis at the age of 56 on January 13th, 1930 in Platte County, Nebraska.1 -
