Joseph was born on May 13th, 1846.1 Joseph's father was Joseph Poley and his mother was Frances Gates. His paternal grandparents were Charles Pouley Poley and Elizabeth Rowland. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Benjamin F., Peter F., Isaac F., Charles M., Alonzo G., Mary C., Caroline, Matilda Francis and Louisa E.. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Elisha, Willie, Nancy C. and Lizzie.1 -
