July H was born in 1845 in Rhea, Scott, Tennessee.1   July H's father was Asa Newport and her mother was Elizabeth Rodgers. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Ezekiel [Red Zeke], Asa, James F, Richard G, Polly Anne, Elizabeth, Margaret and Sabry.  She was the second youngest of the ten children.1
