Bernard Allen was born on January 29th, 1842 in Beaufort Co., SC.1 Bernard Allen's father was Francis Mulligan and his mother was Eliza Lavonia Dean. His maternal grandparents were Allen Jones Dean and Sarah Thial. He had four brothers and four sisters, named William H., Alfred Gideon, George H., Francis A., Sarah Jane, Katherine Eliza, Isabella Annie and Parmicia. He was the second oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 72 on September 20th, 1914 in Tattnall Co., GA. He was buried in Tattnall Co., GA.1 1 General Notes
