Malinda Jane was born on September 25th, 1813 in South Carolina.1   Malinda Jane's father was William Lewis Hunt and her mother was Margaret Finley. She had eight brothers and two sisters, named George Washington [Washie], Thornton, Lewis, Terrell, William, Jesse, Howard F., Franklin Jackson, Irene and Mary Jane.  She was the second oldest of the eleven children.1
