Irene was born on August 1st, 1815 in South Carolina.1   Irene's father was William Lewis Hunt and her mother was Margaret Finley. She had eight brothers and two sisters, named George Washington [Washie], Thornton, Lewis, Terrell, William, Jesse, Howard F., Franklin Jackson, Malinda Jane and Mary Jane.  She was the third oldest of the eleven children.1
