Dinah was born about 1828.  Dinah's father was Isaac Oliver Fraley and her mother was Catherine Shoemaker.  Her paternal grandparents were Frederick Fraley and Chloe M. Fraley; her maternal grandparents were James Shoemaker and Catherine Emerick. She had four brothers and five sisters, named Brittian, James Elihu, Isaac Shelby, Alexander, Patricia, Nancy Jane, Catherine, Elizabeth and Fairlina.  She was the third youngest of the ten children.
