Peter Cushing 
Peter was born on March 29th, 1646.1 Peter's father was Daniel Cushing and his mother was Lydia Gilman. His paternal grandparents were Matthew Cushing and Nazareth Pitcher; his maternal grandparents were Edward Gilman and Mary Clark. He had four brothers and a sister, named Daniel, Jeremiah, Theophilus, Matthew and Deborah. He was the oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 73 in 1719.1 General Notes

He was Constable in 1688; Selectman in 1689 and 1702. He lived on East St., Hingham. The house was built in 1670 and is still owned [1905] by descendants of Peter Cushing. It is shaded by a fine old Elm tree, transplanted in 1729. This part of East St. is often called "Rocky Nook".
