John Henry Cushing 
John Henry was born on May 3rd, 1847.1 John Henry's father was Barak Cushing and his mother was Julia Britton. His paternal grandparents were James Cushing and Deborah Washburn; his maternal grandparents were John Britton and Catherine. He had two brothers and a sister, named Elisha Aaron, Joshua and Julia Antoinette. He was the second oldest of the four children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Thomas, James and Sarah.1 General Notes

John Henry Cushing enlisted in Troop H, Second Mounted Riflemen, U. S. Army in 1863. He was mortally wounded June 18, 1864, while making a charge at Petersburg, Va., and died of his wounds on his way home, and his place of buriel is unknown.
