Daisey Dean was born in 1872 in Nebraska City, Otoe, NE.¹ Daisey Dean's father was John Milton Burks and her mother was Mary Elizabeth Maddox. Her paternal grandparents were Isham Burks and Martha; her maternal grandparents were John William Maddox and Elizabeth Newman. She had a brother and five sisters, named Lewis, Katherine A., Lucy E., Harriet B., Grace and Florence. She was the third youngest of the seven children.¹
