Joseph J. was born in 1824 in Onslow Co., N. C..1 Joseph J.'s father was Micah Barber and his mother was Elizabeth Brinson. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Barber and Serrena; his maternal grandparents were Hilary Brinson and Elizabeth Barfield. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Killis B., Thomas Richard, Elda Ann, Rose Ellender, Nancy, Serena Elizabeth, Mary Jane, Lucinda and Martha Caroline. He was the fourth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 11 in 1835 in Onslow Co., N. C..1 -
