Martha M. was born about 1801.1 Martha M.'s father was Jesse Fortson and her mother was Mary Ballinger White. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Fortson and Rachel Winn; her maternal grandparents were Daniel White and Mary Ballinger. She had two brothers and four sisters, named Jesse Marion, Thomas Daniel, Elizabeth, Mary B., Jane M. and Alemeda Harriett. She was the oldest of the seven children.1 -
