Benjamin G. was born on July 6th, 1815.1 Benjamin G.'s father was Benjamin Fortson and his mother was Elizabeth Gaines. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Fortson and Rachel Winn. He had two brothers and five sisters, and also two siblings of unknown gender, named Thomas, Richard F., Sarah, Maud, Rachel W., Elizabeth A., Amanda N. M., Easton and Mahala. He was the second youngest of the ten children. He had two half-brothers named James and John.1 -
