Veita Viola's father was Willis Jackson Farmer and her mother was Eunice Mae Williams. Her paternal grandparents were John Thomas Farmer and Nancy Jane Ballard. She had six brothers and three sisters, named Charles Edward, Arthur Willis, Dewey Curtis, Kenneth Eugene, Jackson Dorman, Carl Edmond, Wanda Yvonne, Hettie Mae and Gloria Marlene. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named John Henry, Walter Hampton, Eula May and Ova Lee.-
