John was born on October 4th, 1788 in Egypt, Whitehall Twp., Northampton, PA. John's father was Peter Troxell and his mother was Sibylla Veronica Hecker. His paternal grandparents were Nicholas Johannes Troxell and Catharina Reeder; his maternal grandparents are John Hecker and Catherina X. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Peter, Solomon, Joel, Elias, Magdalena, Catharina and Susanna. He is the oldest of the eight children.General Notes
