John was born in 1380 in Argyllshire, Scotland. John's father was Roger?+ Stewart and his mother was Muriella+ Keith. His paternal grandparents were Robert II+ Stewart and Elizabeth+ Mure; his maternal grandparents were William+ Keith and Margaret+ Fraser. He had two sisters named Marjory and Elizabeth+. He was the oldest of the three children. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Murdoch, Margaret+ Maria, Isabel and Joan+. He died at the age of 45 on August 18th, 1425 in Battle of Verneuil, Nievre, France.General Notes
