Michael was born on May 1st, 1771 in New Garden Mm, Guilford, NC. Michael's father was Strangeman Stanley and his mother was Jemima Mills. His paternal grandparents were James+ Stanley and Catherine+ Hutchins; his maternal grandfather was Hur Mills and his maternal grandmother is Rachel Harrold. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Isaiah, Jesse, Samuel, Catherine, Abigail, Martha, Rachel and Jemima. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
