John II was born on February 24th, 1660 in Knowsley, England.  John II's father was John Murray and his mother was Amelia Anne Sophia Stanley.  His paternal grandfather was John Murray and his paternal grandmother is Jean Campbell; his maternal grandparents were James Stanley and Charlotte De La Tremoille. He had two brothers named Charles and William.  He was the oldest of the three children. He had a half-brother named James.  He died at the age of 64 on November 14th, 1724 in Huntingtower, England.


John II's first family with Catherine Douglas-Hamilton

‌John II and Catherine were married in a religious ceremony on May 24th, 1683.  They had five sons and a daughter, named John, William, James, Charles, George and Susan.


John II's second family with Mary Ross

‌John II and Mary were married in a religious ceremony on June 26th, 1710.  They had three sons and a daughter, named John, Edward, Frederick and Mary.
