John was born before June 1573. John's father was John Fleming and his mother is Elizabeth Ross. His paternal grandparents were Malcolm+ Fleming and Janet+ Stewart; his maternal grandfather was Robert Ross. He had a sister named Mary. He was the younger of the two children.
