Mordecai Carter 
Mordecai was born on May 27th, 1777 in Cane Creek, Orange, NC. Mordecai's father was Samuel Carter and his mother was Mary Barnes. His maternal grandparents were Brinsley+ Barnes and Sarah Elizabeth Barry+ Lindley. He had five brothers and three sisters, named William, John, Edward, Samuel, Robert, Mary, Margaret and Elizabeth. He was the youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 38 in 1815 in OH.General Notes
