John Carter 
John was born on April 6th, 1759 in Chester Co., PA. John's father was Samuel Carter and his mother was Mary Barnes. His maternal grandparents were Brinsley+ Barnes and Sarah Elizabeth Barry+ Lindley. He had five brothers and three sisters, named William, Edward, Samuel, Robert, Mordecai, Mary, Margaret and Elizabeth. He was the second oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 85 on September 25th, 1844 in Chatham Co., NC.General Notes
