Dabney Carr 
Dabney was born on October 26th, 1743 in Louisa, VA. Dabney's father was John Carr and his mother was Barbara Ann Overton. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Jr. Carr and Mary Dabney; his maternal grandparents were James Overton and Elizabeth Garland. He had four brothers and three sisters, named James, John, Overton, Garland, Sarah, Elizabeth and Mary. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 29 on May 16th, 1773 in Charlottesville, VA.General Notes

Dabney was a first cousin of Patrick Henry and "the beloved childhood friend of (Pres. Thomas) Jefferson This relationship ultimately created kinship ties through Dabney`s marriage to Martha Jefferson, Thomas`s sister. Pres. Jefferson placed a headstone over Dabney`s interred body (the first at the new burial grounds of Monticello) that read "To His Virtue, Good Sense, Learning and Friendship this stone is dedicated by Thomas Jefferson, who of all men living loved him most." After the burial, Jefferson took the Carr children into his household and raised them as his own.
