Tihern was born in 1020 in Guilliers, Morbihan, France.  Tihern's father was Count Alan la Zouche of Penthièvre & Brittany and his mother was Alarun de Cornouaille.  His paternal grandparents were Duke Geoffroey de Bretagne I of Rennes and Hawise de Normandie; his maternal grandfather was Bishop Benedict de Cornouaille of Quimper and his maternal grandmother is Comtesse Guidodcon de Pornoet. He had a brother named Josselin.  He was the older of the two children.  He died in Châteaubriant, Loire-Atlantique, France.


Tihern's family with Ynoguen de Biré

‌Tihern and Ynoguen were married in a religious ceremony about 1040 in Châteaubriant, Loire-Atlantique, France.  They had a son named Brient.
