Count of Artois was born in September 1216 in Paris, Seine, France.  Count of Artois' father was "The Lion" King of France Louis VIII and his mother was Princess of Castile, Queen of France Blanche.  His paternal grandparents were King France Philippe II and Isabelle Hainault Queen of Frances; his maternal grandparents were Sanchez, King of Castile Alfonso VIII and Queen of Castile Eleanor. He had nine brothers and two sisters, named King of France, Alphonse, Prince of France, Prince France, Carlo, Prince France, King Jerusalem, Prince of, Charles I, daughter and Princess France.  He died in Mussouri, Egypt.

‌Count of Artois and of Brabant Countess were married in a religious ceremony on June 14th, 1237 in ,Champagne,France.  They had a son and a daughter, named Robert II and of Artois, Queen of Navarre.
